Savera UK was established in 2010 and became a registered charity in 2012. Its founder and CEO is Afrah Qassim, and the organisation provides life-saving direct intervention services to survivors and those at risk, regardless of age, culture, sexuality, gender or ethnicity.
Savera UK's aim is to end all such practices for good through safeguarding, advocacy, education, engagement, awareness-raising and through campaigning for policy, attitude and behaviour change.
Savera UK stresses the importance of the “One Chance Rule”; a person may only have one chance to make a disclosure of HBA or harmful practices meaning you may only have one chance to save and protect a life. Learn more about the Once Chance Rule here.
Savera UK is running a Cheshire-based campaign, "HBA & Harmful Practices Happen Here", where they are working with the Cheshire PCC to raise awareness about HBA and Harmful Practices. Read more about their Cheshire campaign here.
