Horta Project

Blooming Marvellous!

‘Horta’ is the Etruscan Goddess of the Sacred Gardens, as well as being the Goddess who urges us on and incites us to noble actions.  Thus, it is the perfect name for the new, women only, Volunteer Project recently launched by TW.

In 2022 Tomorrow’s Women received funding from the Royal Horticultural Society and National Lottery Awards for All, to pilot the ‘Horta Project’.  This will be an ongoing Project to connect women with nature both within the Centre’s award-winning gardens but also within their own communities.

Any funding or donations will continue to provide gardening tools and supplies such as seeds, waterproofs, paint compost etc.

Do you want to volunteer for this project?  You are very welcome.

Award-winning

TW’s garden has been winning awards even before this new project started. We were awarded an ‘Outstanding’ achievement and Health and Wellbeing Award in the Wirral In Bloom Awards 2021.

Britain In Bloom is a National Gardening Competition facilitated and judged by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) aimed at “building communities and tackling local issues” through outdoor spaces and gardening projects. The Wirral arm of the In Bloom Competition is held each year and recognises local leading outdoor projects led by individuals and organisations, and has for the last three years consecutively judged TW’s garden as “outstanding”. The garden was also recognised for its wider benefits, winning the first Health and Wellbeing Award of the Competition.

Bee positive

Thanks to the Urban Beekeeper’s Association, TW’s garden is now home to a hive of honeybees which will go on to make honey for us, that will be sold on site or at networking events.
