J’s Story

J

J came to TWW via the Criminal Justice System. J's progress has been excellent and she has consistently displayed a high level of motivation to complete the requirements of her Community Order and has, in effect exceeded the Order completing over and above the 20 day Specified Activity Requirement and has since volunteered extra hours for UPW (unpaid work) at TWW, motivating other women to successfully complete their Orders.

J has completed the NIACE programme (National Institute of Adult Community Education). TWW were the first to pilot this programme consisting of an intense Educational and Personal Development Course and workshops. Following completion, J was interviewed by one of the Directors of NIACE. This was filmed and submitted for a selection process against other community projects for the opportunity to meet Princess Anne, one of the main patrons for adult education. J was selected for the event held in London and attended alongside other females accessing TWW.

J continues to volunteer at TWW and attends at various presentations talking to university students, health visitors, nurses and other medical professionals.  J talks open and honestly in terms of her pathway into the Criminal Justice System and the factors underpinning this journey, to where she has progressed to nowand how TWW has helped her, in the hope that she can deter other women from following the same path. J has developed many skills at TWW that have enabled her to regain her confidence and self esteem.  She is a role model to many woman who attend TWW.
