International Women’s Day 2024

Tomorrow’s Women celebrated International Women’s Day with events at both our Wirral and Chester centres

The theme for this year is “Inspire Inclusion” which is the celebration of diversity and empowerment.

Despite the advances that women have made, gender inequality is still a pressing issue in the everyday life of women. There is still so much work that needs to be done in breaking down barriers, challenging stereotypes and creating a world were women are valued and respected.

Women have grown up in a world where they have been negatively compared to men, their opinions discarded and obstacles put in place. We must work together to forge a world where that is equitable and inclusive for generations to come.

Tomorrow’s Women Chester celebrated their second IWD event by inviting women and professionals to enjoy fantastic speakers from Chester Pride and Morecrofts. Both speakers discussed their experiences as women in their fields and the importance of inclusion.

The event had an interactive feel, gathering the women’s opinions on their experiences as women and limitations they have had set on them, simply due to their gender. The event culminated in the women writing down what they CAN do as women, leaving everyone with a sense of empowerment.

TW AGM, held at our Wirral centre was streamed to the Chester centre, as well as a speech from Miss Universe Great Britain 2023 who chose to donate funds to as part of winning her title.

Tomorrow’s Women Wirral welcomed over 150 women to the centre, even having to turn some people away! The event was filled with fantastic speakers including Ije McDougaall, a Diversity and Inclusion speaker, Keely Unsworth from Merseyside Fire & Rescue, and Saima Ashraf from Merseyside Police. Each woman provided their own unique and inspiring story of the challenges they have faced as women and how they have overcame them.

The event also involved interactive activities, videos and 2 fantastic performances from TW Creative Group. We were also lucky enough to welcome Miss Universe Great Britain and Lady Mayoress Irene Williams.
