Want to empower women? Make a positive change to women's lives? Have a varied role? Being an Empowerment Advisor could be the job for YOU!
Job Title: Empowerment Advisor (EA) (37.5 hours per week Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5pm)
Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer/Operations Manager
Salary: £18k per annum 12-month contract
Open to Women 18+ only
This opportunity is a fantastic one, if we do say so ourselves, for you to be an Empowerment Advisor in a dynamic, expanding, high profile, women’s Charity: Tomorrow’s Women Wirral! Our charity is open to all adult women in a safe 'women only' environment. We offer space for partner agencies to provide a series of targeted interventions which are tailored to individual female needs, often through a multi-agency, problem solving approach.
The role of Empowerment Advisor is a crucial and varied role within our women's centre. You will be working with the women, providing advice and support and encouraging women down a positive path. We are looking for a woman who is a specialist in drug and alcohol misuse and/or mental health in a professional capacity to be able to refine the support that we can offer internally.
One of our EAs, Andrea, shared what her role means to her:
My journey at Tomorrows Women began almost a year ago when I was lucky enough to be offered the fabulous role of empowerment advisor. I knew I was about to become involved in something wonderful, but I could never have imagined just how special and rewarding my new role would be. I have the privilege of supporting and empowering the most amazing women that you could ever wish to meet, women who walk through our doors broken, lost and alone and leave feeling stronger, empowered and optimistic, ready to make positive changes to their lives. Where else would I see this amazing transition?! It is an honour to be a part of such a fantastic team here at Tomorrows Women.
Our Senior Empowerment Advisor, Nicky, is excited to expand the team:
As Senior EA it is exciting to see that we have funding for a new EA. It is fantastic that our team has grown so much in the 5 years I have been here. I work with some incredible women who not only support the women using our service, but eachother as a staff team! As TWW has grown so much it is great to see the positive lifestyle changes that are happening, and I get great pleasure seeing women support other women who are starting their journey at the centre.
To make a good EA she says you need to be "a good listener, knowledgable, empathetic and adaptable."
