Sunday 28th May is World Menstrual Hygiene Day! Join us on Friday 26th May to learn, laugh and celebrate!
World Menstrual Hygiene Day (WMH Day) is a global platform that brings together non-profits, government agencies, the private sector, the media and individuals to promote Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM).
WMH Day raises awareness of the challenges women and girls worldwide face due to their menstruation and highlights solutions that address these challenges, including through media work.
Why do we need World Menstrual Hygiene Day?
According to menstrualhygieneday.org, "Menstrual Hygiene Day offers the opportunity to create awareness of the importance for women and girls to hygienically manage their menstruation – in privacy, safety and with dignity – wherever they are. It also is an excellent occasion to promote the great work that partners of the MH Day Alliance are doing to promote menstruation and menstrual hygiene management."
Creating a VISION
To create a world in which every woman and girl can manage her menstruation in a hygienic way – wherever she is – in privacy, safety and with dignity.
On a MISSION
Menstrual Hygiene Day will help to break the silence and build awareness about the fundamental role that good menstrual hygiene management (MHM) plays in enabling women and girls to reach their full potential.
It catalyses a growing, global movement for MHM and supports partnerships at global, regional, national and local level. MH Day also creates opportunities for advocacy for the integration of MHM into global, national and local policies, programmes and projects.
